How Community handles information, including SMS communications.

This page is written for a typical SMS marketing + transactional notification use case. If you have questions, consult legal counsel.

1. What we collect

  • Account information you provide to create and use your profile.
  • Phone numbers and SMS/WhatsApp communication details (including opt-in/opt-out consent history).
  • Basic technical data such as browser/device information and IP address (for security and fraud prevention).

2. How we use information

  • To operate the community features and send service updates.
  • To deliver SMS messages and manage your consent and opt-out preferences.
  • To prevent abuse and protect our users (security, rate limiting, and validation).

3. Cookies and analytics

If enabled, we may use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use the website. Google Analytics may collect information such as approximate location and usage patterns.

4. SMS and privacy (communications)

Transactional vs. marketing SMS

Community may send transactional SMS messages related to your account and requests (for example: verification and time-sensitive updates). In addition, you can opt in to receive marketing SMS messages via the SMS opt-in page.

  • Opt-out: If you opt in to marketing SMS, you can withdraw consent at any time by replying STOP (or other equivalent keywords) to a marketing SMS message from us.
  • Continued service messages: even if you opt out of marketing texts, we may still send essential transactional/service messages where permitted.
  • Message & carrier details: SMS delivery is handled by our communication providers (e.g. Telnyx for SMS delivery and AWS services as configured). Your wireless carrier is not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
  • Consent records: we store your marketing SMS consent/opt-out timestamps and the disclosure version you viewed in our database for compliance and operational purposes.

5. How long we keep data

We keep information for as long as necessary to provide the services, comply with legal requirements, resolve disputes, and maintain security. Consent/opt-out records may be retained as needed for compliance.

6. Your rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete certain personal data. To request changes, contact us through your account channels or by using your communications with our team.
